CSDevNet, Partners celebrate International Youth Day 2024

The Climate and Sustainable Development Network, as a consortium partner with African Activists for Climate Justice (AACJ) joined the AACJ lead (OXFAM) to commemorate International Youth Day 2024, with the theme “ from clicks to progress: youth digital pathways for sustainable Development, on the 12th August, 2024 at Royal Choice INN Abuja.

This event, aimed at empowering youth in Nigeria for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and transitioning from awareness to action, brought together over 300 participants, including youth groups, people with disabilities (PWDs), policymakers, CSOs, government agencies, and CBOs.

Ms Titlope Gbadamosi, Special assistant to the president on youth initiatives, in her remarks expressed her deep gratitude for the opportunity to part of the event, highlighting that the theme served as a powerful reminder of the crucial role of active engagement for Nigerian youth, both locally and globally, in shaping a better future.

She emphasized that the event’s agenda went beyond mere awareness-raising, focusing instead on creating tangible, meaningful impacts.

Ms. Titilope stressed that true progress involves not only understanding the Sustainable Development Goals but also actively working towards them through concrete actions.

She applauded the event’s commitment to empowering youth to turn their awareness into impactful contributions that drive positive change and sustainability”, she added.

The event commemorating International Youth Day 2024 included a series of engaging activities designed to empower youth in Nigeria for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It featured insightful panel sessions that addressed critical issues and opportunities for young people, special youth award spotlight celebrated outstanding contributions and achievements.

A fireside conversation focused on the development of digital and green skills, emphasizing their importance for social action and sustainable development. These elements combined to create a comprehensive program that highlighted the role of youth in driving positive change and provided them with tools and recognition to further their impact.
