Climate and sustainable Development Network ( CSDevNet), on Friday, 14th of February 2025, collaborated with The Empowered Girl Child Initiative (TEGCI) formerly known as Ele-ojone Foundation to conduct an intensive training session with a group of Young Girls at Ogbor Hill Community Secondary School, Aba, Abia State.
The Training focused on inspiring young girls to take a career path in renewable energy, solar innovations as well as the installation and maintenance of renewable products.
This initiative is a continuation of CSDevNet’s efforts to promote affordable and clean energy – SDG 7, Climate Action – SDG 13 and to reduce inequality – SDGs 10, across south-east Nigeria.
There were ninety seven (97) young girls in attendance, marking a significant step towards achieving the revolution.
Mr Emmanuel Ameh, a well-known respected clergy present at the event, gave an opening remark beginning the session.
He encouraged the girls to look beyond the regular thought of making money, like becoming a Tiktok or social media content creators and go for career that has the potency of contributing positively to global issues such as renewable Energy.
Mr Ameh also commended the efforts of the team for putting up a good Job.
Mrs Gift Eleojo Matthew, founder of TEGCI, began the lecture by introducing the girls to renewable energy then highlighting the needs and the opportunities vastly found in the sector.
At the end, more than 60 Girl Child were inspired, with much excitement and enthusiasm seeking what next steps to begin their journey.
Young people are strong agents of change and influence and this training has set a stage for possible expansion of Girls in STEMs in Ogbor Hill Community.
